However, it was criticised for its high difficulty level and lack of documentation. The game was well-received upon release, with critics praising the graphics, sound, and gameplay. The player must gather the valuable spice melange, build up their forces, and defeat the other factions. The player takes control of one of three factions vying for control of the planet Arrakis, also known as Dune: the noble Atreides, the evil Harkonnen, or the enigmatic Fremen. The game is based on the 1965 novel Dune by Frank Herbert. The game was developed by Westwood Studios and published by Virgin Interactive for Microsoft Windows. This model is not to be uploaded or sold in any form and is intended for personal use only.Dune: The Battle for Arrakis, released in 1994, is a real-time strategy game set in the fictional universe of Frank Herbert's Dune series. When assembled, this piece measured ~20 cm from front to tail, and has a wingspan of ~45cm when the wings are fully extended. It also is sized to be somewhat in scale with 28mm miniatures (as shown in the photos above). This simple model features hinged wings which can be posed in different positions. A decidedly simple piece which we started with and still gets quite a lot of love till this day! :) It's quite a blast from the past also, as one of our very very earliest model was the Windtrap from Dune II. And so, we just had to model and bring our own version into real life. Used exclusively by House Atreides in the game, these exotic vehicles zipped all over the battlemap by flapping its wings. There was always something about the Ornithoper from the classic favorite Dune II game, which felt so cool.
